ALISON SUDOL
BAND: A Fine Frenzy
Born in Seattle to dramatic-arts teacher parents, Alison moved to Los
Angeles at the age five. With her newly single mother, Alison moved
frequently around the city. She developed a strong love for the
fantastic literary worlds of CS Lewis, EB White, Lewis Carroll and
Charles Dickens, while becoming a passionate author in her own
right.

Alison also immersed herself in classical music, Motown, Aretha
Franklin, swing bands, Ella Fitzgerald, Elton John, Louis Armstrong,
the Beatles, Technicolor movies and classic 1950's television.

After teaching herself to play piano, Alison increasingly invested her
internal narratives into song form. She found solace in the melodic
melancholia of new global British bands Aqualung, Radiohead,
Coldplay and Keane, etc... She was also moved by the diatonic
minimalism of Philip Glass and the transportive allure of Icelandic
music (Bjork, Sigur Ros.) Inspired, Alison developed the sound of A
Fine Frenzy - hypnotic piano arrangements under classic American
melody fused into irresistible, atmospheric songs with the power to
reach around the world.
              Doc's Personal Commentary
When I came upon this lady's album, i was not sure of what to
expect. A quick listen gave me all the insight I needed into the artist
herself. This led to a mad scramble to get the entire album in my
possession. Alison has a unique vocal sound which perfectly blends
with the instrumentation and musical harmonies that surround her.

She has a masterful methodology of drawing a listener in and
encapsulating them in an aura of emotion. A few listeners have
stated that the emotional state has invoked them to near tears.
Lyrics are an intricate flow of compelling stories, the music is a
concert of spellbinding crescendo's and smooth fluidity. There is the
ever present smile emanating across her face while performing. A
clear indicator as to how much she enjoys the career in which she
has chosen.

We might add, that among her many talents, she is quite the actress
as well. Quite by chance, we were watching CSI New York one
evening and whom did we see as one of the lead characters, but
none other than Alison Sudol. She performed magnificently for her
first jaunt into the fray of acting. I have it on authority, that there was
a bit of knee knocking nervous jitters during the set. It was not
however,  apparent in her  performance though. A job well done in
our opinion!

Alison is a favorite here at RupturedEarDrums and we are quite
proud to have her as a performing artist and friend. We fully expect
to see this lady go so much further in this expanding industry. She is
well on her way in our book.
