There is no better indication that greatness can be achieved
through a resilient work ethic than Lacuna Coil, whose
aggressive touring and extensive critical praise have now
poised them for mainstream domination. The group initially left
their mark on the hard rock scene in 2004 with their acclaimed
album, Comalies, which opened several opportunities for them
that were previously thought unattainable for an Italian band,
such as two highly successful commercial radio campaigns
alongside a breakthrough Ozzfest appearance resulting in
over 500,000 copies sold worldwide with a quarter of a million
in the U.S. alone. Now, Lacuna Coil returns with their highly
anticipated new album, Karmacode, which is another huge
step forward in the band’s continuous evolution. It has been
years since an artist came along that could redefine a genre,
but this group has the potential to do just that. This is the next
big thing.

LACUNA COIL exhibits a miraculous eloquence in their collision
of melody and metal. They also maturely exhibit enchanting
gothic overtones and poignant melancholy to build their
ethereal musical landscape.

Upholding the emotive yin/yang tradition of vocal interplay
between the (not only) dulcet tones of Cristina Scabbia and
the deliberate vocals of her male singing partner Andrea
Ferro, is a dynamic exploration of soulfully somber and
stunningly enigmatic musical alchemy.

                        Doc's Personal Commentary
With each new album Lacuna Coil becomes even more
addictive. Their success is based on solid instrumentation,
powerful lyrics, and a pair of  enigmatic vocalists. Of course,
having Cristina Scabbia on every magazine in the world which
even briefly mentions Rocks Hottest Women does not hurt a
bit. Cristina works the camera as well as she does the stage or
the studio. There is not much that can said about this well
organized gothic metal war machine that has not been said
many times in the past. They take a stage by storm, hold it
hostage and then toss it aside when they finished blowing the
minds and eardrums of the entire audience.
